About Alta Wyoming

Alta is a not a city. It’s not a town. It’s a “census-designated place”. How cool is that? It’s positioned on the opposite side of Grand Teton National Park and borders Idaho and it’s surrounding Teton Valley. Alta, Wyoming’s claim-to-fame is probably it’s year-round ski resort, Grand Targhee. Grand Targhee Resort features epic terrain for skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking and hiking in the summer. Alta was founded in the 1800s by a Swiss Farming Family who were seeking the next best thing in America to the Swiss Alps. They found it. Grand Targhee Resort opened in Alta, Wyoming in 1969 and the rest is history. Today, Alta and the surrounding Teton Valley still have their small mountain town vibe but are growing quickly.
